Palcoyo the Cordillera Colors is a set of 03 mountains that are located in the Cordillera de los Andes, precisely in the district of Checacupe in the province of Canchis in the department of Cusco at an altitude of 4900 meters above sea level, framed in almost 9000 hectares of beautiful Andean landscapes, whose attraction lies in the similarity it has to the already famous rainbow mountain that is about 20 kilometers away, because like this it has a wide mineral composition that results in multiple colors that together resemble a rainbow whose background is a landscape of snow-capped mountain ranges.

Tour Palcoyo

We will begin our adventure towards this incredible landscape mountain range by picking you up from your hotel in Cusco between 06:50 to 07:10 am to head on board our shared tourist mobility towards the southern part of Cusco.

After a 2-hour trip through picturesque villages we will arrive in Checacupe where we will make a short stop to appreciate a small Inca bridge and the colonial bridge built next to it.

We will continue our tour to the place called “parking” from where you can already see the mountains of colors of which we will have a better view ascending for about 45 minutes, which is a less demanding walk than Vinicunca, the other Rainbow Mountain Peru

From the Palcoyo viewpoint we can appreciate the 3 mountains of 7 colors, which have colors that resemble the rainbow for its multicolored layers. In addition, we can appreciate a curious forest of stones which is composed of rocky peaks formed naturally by rain and wind.

After enjoying the scenic beauty of this place, we will return to the parking lot to enjoy a delicious lunch in the town of Cusipata and then finally return to the city of Cusco where we will be arriving at approximately 18:00 hrs.

PLACES TO VISIT: Palccoyo mountain range – stone forest – colonial bridge and inka in Checacupe – cusipata.
